US pledges additional $204 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): US on Saturday announced additional $204 million in humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

Reaffirming its commitment US Secretary of State Secretary Antony Blinken on his Twitter handle made the announcement.

He wrote: “Today we announced nearly $204 million in additional humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people. We’ve provided more than $720 million since August 2021 and remain committed to the Afghan people.”

Chargé d’Affaires Ian McCary said: “The U.S. remains committed to supporting the humanitarian needs of the Afghan people. We strongly urge the Taliban leadership to abide by its commitments to respect the human rights of all of Afghanistan’s citizens.”

Earlier, during a UN led pledging conference for Afghanistan US committed over $500 for humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
