Badghis residents concerned at possible COVID-19 spread

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): The residents of northwestern Badghis province have expressed their concern about an uptick in Covid-19 cases after the temperature reached 43 degree Celsius at the start of summer season.

COVID-19 cases surge with spike in heat or cold, thus the residents of Badghis Province are concerned form the spread of COVID-19 cases because of the lack of officials’ attention from one side and failure of people about hygiene from another side.

Mohammad Yar, a resident of Qala-i-Naw, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “as the weather has been getting hot in the last two years, COVID-19 cases are also increasing, I am concerned that COVID-19 cases will increase this year too”.

Mohammad Yar criticized the government as well as the public for not paying attention to health issues. He added that the government did not publicize hygiene rules and the people did not wear masks.

Doctor Mohammad Yaqob Sina said that with the increase temperature, COVID-19 cases could also increase, so the people must follow health guidelines strictly.

Mawlavi Mohammad AsifQanit, the director of public health, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “We have issued a significant number of health messages to the public, but they are not followed”.

He further added that health teams regularly issued health messages from mosques, schools and madrasas.
