US diplomat, ex-Pakistani PM discuss Afghanistan
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A senior US diplomat has discussed the current situation in Afghanistan with Pakistan’s former prime minister Senate Yousaf Raza Gillani.
US Charge d’affaires Angela P. Aggeler called on Gillani, currently the opposition leader in the Senate, at his residence in Lahore on Friday evening.
The two sides conferred on the evolving situation in Afghanistan, with Gillani voicing his concern over the humanitarian crisis facing Afghanistan.
Both sides agreed every country must play its role in ensuring an end to the suffering of common Afghan citizens and the worsening economic situation.
Additionally, they also exchanged views on the need for close US-Pakistan bilateral relations based on mutual respect and consensus.
