Taliban bans poppy cultivation, all types of narcotics in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban supreme leader has banned poppy cultivation and all other types of narcotics in Afghanistan from now onward, according to a statement on Sunday.

As per the decree of the supreme leader of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), All Afghans are informed that from now on, cultivation of poppy has been strictly prohibited across the country, reads the Taliban statement.

“If anyone violates the decree the crop will destroyed immediately and the violator will be treated according to the Sharia Law.”

“In addition, usage, transportation, trade, export import of all types of narcotics such as alcohol, heroine, tablet K, hashish, and etc including drug manufacturing factories in Afghanistan are strictly banned.”

“Enforcement of this decree is mandatory. The violator will be prosecuted and punished by the judiciary.”
