KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has noted a steep drop in human rights progress in Afghanistan in the wake of America’s withdrawal in August last year.
The 2021 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices identified significant human rights issues in Afghanistan before and after the Taliban’s takeover.
Releasing the report, Secretary of State Antony Blinken alleged: “The Taliban takeover precipitated a humanitarian crisis and has resulted in serious erosion of human rights.”
Under Taliban rule, the report claimed reprisal killings, the removal of women and minority groups from leadership and bans on women from working or receiving an education had happened.
