Pakistan vows respect for Afghanistan’s sovereignty
PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has reaffirmed respect for Afghanistan’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Pakistan will continue to work closely with the Afghan government to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields,” the Foreign Office spokesman said on Sunday.
In a statement, the spokesman asked the Taliban government to ensure the security of the Durand Line on its side.
The Foreign Office urged Kabul to take stern action against militants involved in attacks on the Pakistani forces in the interest of peace and progress of the two countries.
The spokesperson added Pakistan and Afghanistan had been engaged for the past several months “through institutional channels for effective coordination and security along the Durand Line”.
Also on Sunday, Kunar Director of Information Shabir Ahmad Osmani claimed 41 civilians were killed in Pakistani airstrikes on Saturday.
He added 22 people were wounded in the strikes near the Durand line in Khost province, he added. Mainly women and children were among the victims.
