Mullah Haibatullah to world: Recognise new Afghan govt

KABUL (Pajhwok):  The Taliban’s supreme leader has renewed his call for the international community to recognise the new Afghan government.

In his Eid message on Friday, Haibatullah Akhundzada urged Afghan citizens living abroad to return to their homeland and work for its prosperity.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) had declared a general amnesty for all Afghans, including Taliban opponents, he recalled. His amnesty order had been enforced, he said.

Akhundzada added: “Based on this amnesty, I once again invite all Afghans to return to their country and live peacefully.”

Anyone violating the amnesty or trying to launch a new war would face severe reaction, he warned, saying the nation would allow no one to disturb the peace.

He reiterated the imperative of the full implementation of the Doha agreement in the spirit of cooperation instead of pressure.

The Taliban chief went on to urge the world to recognise the Taliban government to help it resolve problems diplomatically

Akhundzada reaffirmed IEA’s commitment to protecting the rights of men and women in Afghanistan under the Shariah.
