India pledges humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): India has expressed its willingness to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

India offered to support Afghanistan as delegates from the two countries met in Moscow on Wednesday.

Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi led the Taliban delegation at the Moscow consultations on Afghanistan.

The Indian team was headed by JP Singh, the joint secretary of the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran division of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The delegations met on the sidelines of the conference on Afghanistan, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a brief statement.

Wednesday’s meeting was the first formal contact between the two sides since the Taliban government’s formation, Indian magazine Outlook reported.
