KABUL (Pajhwok): The European Union (EU) and Central Asia have underlined the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
EU and Central Asian special envoys for Afghanistan issued the call in a joint statement after their meeting in Tashkent.
They stressed the need for the Taliban to ensure good governance and service delivery, promote the rule of law and respect universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of all Afghans.
In particular, the diplomats emphasised on the preservation of rights of women, girls, children, all ethnic groups and minorities.
They urged the creation of an inclusive government through a credible and legitimate political process, in which participation by all ethnic and political stakeholders, including women and minorities, was respected.
The envoys reiterated EU-Central Asia cooperation in support of the Afghan people as well as security and resilience in the wider region.
The envoys also stressed the role of regional cooperation in supporting an inclusive political process in Afghanistan — something vital for future social and economic development of the country.
They also highlighted the imperative of finding solutions for addressing the severe liquidity crisis in the war-torn country.
They emphasised on preventing Afghanistan from being used as a base for hosting, financing or exporting terrorism and violent extremism to other countries.
