Control of Afghan airports handed to UAE firm

KABUL (Pajhwok): Control of Afghanistan’s airports was handed to a firm based in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday

A statement from the prime minister’s office said a memorandum of understanding was signed Tuesday in Kabul “for the control and management of airports in Afghanistan.

The MoU was inked by First Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar and Razack Aslam Mohammed Abdur Razack of GAC Dubai.

The agreement came after months of negotiations with the UAE, Turkey and Qatar on the sensitive issue.

Baradar told journalists here that the Taliban administration was renewing an airport ground handling agreement with the UAE.
