Charles commends Afghans fighting persecution

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Prince of Wales has commended the brave individuals resisting political and religious persecution in Afghanistan, Syria and Myanmar.

In a New Year message, Prince Charles urged the world to remember those “standing up for freedom and human rights”.

Charles recently visited Jordan, where and saw how the country has for decades been a haven for people fleeing conflict in the region.

“As we start a New Year, we might take a moment to remember the many people around the world who are standing up for freedom and human rights,” he wrote.

The prince the threats and reality of political and religious persecution were coupled with a dire humanitarian situation in places like Afghanistan, Syria and Myanmar.

He prayed for peaceful resolutions to these conflicts, saying: “We might all be blessed with the courage to support those in need, wherever they may be.”
