Britons advised against travelling to Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has advised British citizens against all travel to Afghanistan.

“You should not travel to Afghanistan. The security situation in Afghanistan remains extremely volatile,” a statement from FCDO said.

It added there was an ongoing and high threat of terrorist attacks through Afghanistan, including around the airport.

“There is a heightened risk of detention of foreign nationals. The British government may not be notified about such detentions and communications with family or next of kin may not be guaranteed,” the advisory said.

Currently, there are no British consular officials in Afghanistan to provide consular assistance to UK nationals.
