Bajwa, Chinese ambassador talk Afghan peace

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistan army chief and the Chinese ambassador in Islamabad have conferred on regional security situation, including the Afghan peace process.

Accompanied by incoming Chinese Defence Attache to Pakistan Major General Yang Yang, Ambassador Nong Rong called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday.

Besides Afghan peace efforts, measures to further enhance bilateral cooperation also came up for discussion at the meeting, the army’s media wing said.

Gen. Bajwa reiterated the need for convergence of efforts towards a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan in pursuit of regional stability.

The visiting dignitaries appreciated the special measures taken for the provision of a safe and secure environment to CPEC projects in Pakistan.
