Afghans rise to No.4 spot in ICC WC Super League table

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan have risen to the No.4 spot in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League table as a result of an emphatic win over Bangladesh in the third One-Day International. .

The tourists restricted Bangladesh to 192 in Monday’s match in Chattogram and then raced to the target, with seven wickets and 59 balls to spare.

Afghan openers got off to a terrific start, displaying good form and picking boundaries right from the start of their innings, ICC said.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Riaz Hassan put on 57 runs in the first 10 overs and continued to carry on the momentum.

Gurbaz made full use of the reprieves as he got to his third ODI century, as Rahmat Shah chipped in with  a handy 47.

Afghanistan, thanks to their massive victory in the final ODI, now have 70 points — nine short of India, who are at No.3.

Bangladesh continue to lead the table with 100 points, while England are second with 95.
