Afghan politicians strongly condemn Kabul blasts

KABUL (Pajhwok): A number of Afghan politicians Tuesday condemned three bomb blasts in Kabul, calling it a crime against humanity and the handiwork of the enemies of peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The three explosions took place in front of Abdul Rahim Shaheed High School and Mumtaz Educational Center today.

At least six people were killed and nearly a dozen others were injured in the blasts, according to Kabul police. But the Ministry of Public Health later said five dead and 20 wounded had been taken to Kabul hospitals. According to eyewitnesses, most of the dead and injured were students.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the bombings, saying: “This crime against humanity has been committed by the enemies of peace and stability in Afghanistan. It is a clear enmity with knowledge and education.”

He says the enemies of peace and stability in the country are carrying out such attacks out of fear of Afghanistan’s educated generation.

Former head of the Reconciliation Council, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, also condemned the blasts.

“I strongly condemn today’s terrorist attacks, many of whose victims are students, and call these heinous killings the work of the enemies of peace and development in the country,” he said.

Fazlullah Hadi Muslimyar, a former senator, said the attacks on schools and students were “horrendous, coercive and cruel” and could not be justified in any way.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts.
