Afghan Gitmo Prisoner Asadullah Haroon freed: Govt
ATLANTA (Pajhwok): Acting Afghan government says an Afghan prisoner in Guantanamo bay has been freed and handed over to them.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the acting government spokesperson, in a statement said Asadullah Haroon has been freed as a result of the Islamic Emirate positive and direct engagement with the US.
He said the Islamic Emirate believed that inquiring after Afghan prisoners in other nations was its responsibility and tried that no Afghan shall remain in troubling condition in other nations.
“Efforts are one for the release of Afghans imprisoned in other countries on different charges,” he said.
