Russia concerned at US arms left in Afghanistan
KABUL (Pajhwok): The weapons left in Afghanistan by US forces may find their way to the black market, fears Russia.
The American arms and other military equipment, if they reached the black market, would create problems for the whole world, a Russian official said.
Dmitry Shugayev, head of the federal service for military-technical cooperation, voiced his concern in an interview will the BBC.
According to TASS news agency, Shugayev said: “That the Americans have squandered a mammoth amount of money on weapons and other military equipment has become a terrible headache not only for Afghanistan, but for the whole world as well.”
Different terrorist outfits active in the region might lay hands on this arsenal, if they had not done so already, the official warned.
The weapons — a lot more serious than popguns — could surface anywhere in the world, Shugayev said, voicing concern at the possibility.
