KABUL (Pajhwok): Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has stressed the need for the formation of a broad-based government in Afghanistan.
Raisi urged neighbours to help establish an inclusive government in Afghanistan to keep the war-torn country from sliding again into insecurity.
The Iranian leader was addressing a joint news conference with Qatar Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in Qatar late on Tuesday.
Neighbours should support Afghan people and political parties in setting up a government that represented all ethnic groups, he said.
Raisi added his discussions with the Emir of Qatar were focused on regional issues, as well as the campaign against terrorism and drugs.
The current situation in Afghanistan and the scourge of drug trafficking also came up for discussion, the visiting president continued.
Meanwhile, the emir of Qatar tweeted that he had conferred on a wide range of global and regional issues with the Iranian president.
