Pakistan looking into reports of attacks in Afghanistan

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan says it is looking into reports of alleged action by its forces in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces of Kunar and Khost.

The Foreign Office spoke of investigations while commenting on an Afghan official’s claim that Pakistani forces fired rockets, killing six people in Kunar.

Kunar Director of Information Najibullah Hassan Abdal said on Saturday five children and a woman were killed and a man wounded in Pakistani strikes.

Another official said a pre-dawn bombardment was conducted in southeastern Khost province near the border with Pakistan.

Also on Saturday, Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and Deputy Defence Minister Mullah Shirin Akhund summoned the Pakistani ambassador and “condemned the attacks on Khost and Kunar provinces.

A statement from the ministry quoted Muttaqi as saying all military violations, including that in Khost and Kunar must be prevented.

Pakistani lawmaker Mohsin Dawar also raised the issue in the National Assembly, regretting the incident as highly tragic.
