KABUL (Pajhwok): The new Afghan government should be recognised by the global fraternity as it has met the required conditions, says the acting foreign minister.
Amir Khan Muttaqi told the Turkish state broadcaster TRT that the Islamic Emirate was already inclusive and should be formally recognised.
“To be recognised, a government needs (secure) borders, people and security. We have met the requirements to be recognised,” the foreign minister insisted.
With regard to the humanitarian situation, Muttaqi argued the 40 million people of Afghanistan could not bank on aid forever.
Muttaqi stressed: “If we want Afghanistan to be self-reliant, on top of humanitarian aid, we need development assistance that creates jobs.”
The foreign minister’s remarks come amid deepening poverty, unemployment and a severe banking crisis in the country since August 2021.
