India vows continued humanitarian aid for Afghans

KABUL (Pajhwok): India has promised continued and timely humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

The commitment was held out by India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Indramani Pandey, on Monday.

India Today quoted him as saying: “India’s approach to Afghanistan has always been guided by its historical friendship with its people.”

He was speaking at the interactive dialogue with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet on her report on promotion and protection of human rights in Afghanistan.

Pandey was speaking at the interactive dialogue with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet on her report on strengthening promotion and protection of human rights in Afghanistan during the 49th Session of the Human Rights Council.

He also referred to the supply of 4000MT of wheat, half a million doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, 13 tonnes of lifesaving drugs and winter clothing by India to the Afghans.
