Pak, German FMs underline stability in Afghanistan

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan and Germany have discussed the current humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, says the Foreign Office.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock also spoke on Russia-Ukraine tensions.

Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to support international efforts to strengthen peace and stability in the war-torn country, a statement from FO said on Monday.

He also highlighted Islamabad’s role in evacuation operations in Afghanistan, saying Islamabad had facilitated the evacuation of more than 90,000 people so far.

Qureshi stressed: “The urgent need is to avert a humanitarian crisis and economic meltdown in Afghanistan, which will adversely impact stability in the region and beyond.”

Baerbock commended Pakistan’s assistance for evacuations from Afghanistan and hoped for its continued support in this regard.
