Gen. Bajwa underlines global assistance for Afghanistan

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistan army chief has renewed underlined the need for international assistance for Afghanistan to ward off a humanitarian catastrophe.

“It’s imperative for regional peace and stability that the international community helps Afghanistan overcome the humanitarian crisis, he said.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa said this during a meeting with British High Commissioner Christian Turner in Rawalpindi on Friday.

Matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation, including Afghanistan, and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) media release.

According to army’s media wing, the British diplomat appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace, particularly in the Afghan situation.
